Matthew Cathcart is the founder and principal attorney of Cathcart Estate Planning LLC, a solo law practice established to provide individuals and families with clear, dependable estate planning services. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2017 and began his legal career in tax consulting and regulatory compliance, where he developed a strong understanding of how legal planning intersects with financial and personal decision-making.

Prior to starting his own practice, Matthew worked as an Estate Planning Attorney with the UAW Legal Services Plan. Over several years, he personally met with and advised a substantial number of clients and drafted a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, various forms of revocable living trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, and related planning instruments. This experience provided him with a practical, hands-on understanding of the planning concerns families commonly face and the importance of precise, well-considered drafting.

As a solo practitioner, Matthew works directly with each client throughout the planning process. He takes a practical, client-centered approach to estate planning, emphasizing clear communication and careful drafting so clients can feel confident that their plans accurately reflect their wishes and provide meaningful protection for the people and causes that matter most to them.
